A QUEEN ANNE TYPE WOODEN DOLL
English, circa 1770-80
Carved head and nose, glass eyes, painted head and torso, human hair wig in a braid, originally dressed. Arms made of fabric and wood, one finger broken off. Movable wooden legs. Some cracks in the gesso; a small piece in the neck, pieces below the hairline and a bit of paint missing on the nose. In the wooden torso old woodworm holes. Brown cotton dress, an apron, a woollen petticoat (with some moth holes), cotton petticoat, shirt and trousers, woollen stockings and a cotton bonnet. Also included a work pocket containing a mother of pearl watch.
